New ‘What If…?’ Episode explores strange world where Marvel films are still relevant

The latest episode of popular Marvel TV show What If…? is one of the strangest yet, exploring a bizarre parallel reality where Marvel films are still relevant and of consistent good quality.

“That was trippy,” said Marvel fan Stewart James, after watching the episode.

“I mean, we’ve had some weird What If…?s before – What if Iron Man was actually Dame Judi Dench, What if Thor was a nice potted plant – but, a place where people are still interested in Marvel films? Mad.”

The episode opens on a Friday night and focuses on a couple of friends, excitedly getting ready to go out, they walk through town to the local movie theatre and it is revealed that the movie playing is Thunderbolts.

“Twist. Right?” Continued Stewart.

“I mean, you see a bunch of people queuing for the movies, you think it must be a new Star Wars film, or a film about a theoretical physicist, but a Marvel film? That was like – woah – you know? I mean, what kind of crazy world is this? People going to the theatre to see a Marvel film and not just waiting for it to hit Disney Plus, and then watching it at some point because it’s raining and Sunday afternoon and there’s nothing else to do?

“I mean, you know, I was hooked, straight away, really weird.”

It is rumoured that the next What If…? episode is even stranger, positing a Marvel film that isn’t reliant on the multiverse to sort out a plot hole.
