New Diablo IV expansion set in charming English seaside town

The newly announced Diablo IV expansion will be set in a charming fictional English seaside town, Blizzard today confirmed.

In an expansion that will move the Diablo story in surprising directions, players will journey to Plumpton-On-Sea, an English seaside town on the south coast with a lovely old pier, a long golden beach and some really well-regarded Fish and Chip restaurants.

“The problem that many players had this iteration of Diablo was that it was really rather Hell-y,” explained expansion director Stewart James.

“There was a lot of mud, death, demons, and shouting. Which is fine. Great fun, even. But it can get a bit much. So, for this expansion, players get to have a nice break by the sea.”

For the expansion, the player or ‘the Wanderer’ is tasked with hunting down the demon Bethlazor. It soon becomes clear, however, that Bethlazor has left the world of Sanctury and has moved to a nice bungalow overlooking the cliffs in Plumpton-On-Sea. Players will follow him, explore the town, play on the arcade machines on the pier, go for a paddle in the sea, perhaps do a spot of sunbathing if the weather allows, and then they will have their final confrontation with the demon.

“I mean, we say confrontation, they actually meet in a lovely little teashop in the centre of town for a cup of tea and some cake. It’s really quite civilised.”

Players are promised an exciting new rock-pooling mechanic, a crazy golf game, and a beautiful old carousel. There will even be the opportunity to send postcards back to friends in Sanctuary.

Diablo IV: Off to the Seaside will be released at some point next year, and if players find the expansion a little too gentile then following expansion is promised to be a return to the grim and diabolic with it being set in the Yorkshire town of Hull.
