Succession season 5 to begin with Logan in the shower as Tom realises his death was a dream

A surprise new season of Succession has been announced and it will start with the shock news that Logan’s death was just a dream.

The first episode will open with Tom waking to the sound of running water.

He gets out of bed and slowly wanders through his luxury apartment to the bathroom where he finds the room full of steam and someone in the shower.

He flings open the door to find Logan standing there, washing his hair. Logan asks what the matter is and Tom says that he’s had the most terrible dream.

“We originally wanted to end the whole thing with season 4,” explained producer Jesse Armstrong.

“But the response to that season has been absolutely overwhelming. I mean, wow! So I thought that, perhaps, if people love it that much, then perhaps we could give them another season.

“And, of course, we’ve only had a million broadsheet articles about the show, with another season we could easily end up with two, maybe even three million.”

The problem for Armstrong and his team was how to credibly bring back Logan, who is unarguably the star of the show.

“Yeah, we couldn’t do it without Logan. We had a bunch of ideas – zombie Logan, Invasion of the Body Snatchers pod-Logan, Long-lost twin brother Logan, or just Logan getting up going ‘Actually, I feel a bit better now.’

“The dream thing was the most sensible plan.”

Season 5 of Succession will be out at the end of 2024. Unless this entire article was a dream.
