The Rock has finally confirmed that he will be moving into politics with the announcement that he will running for election onto the parish council of Beddgelert, a small village in Wales.
It has long been rumoured that the star, who is one of the most successful and popular actors in the world, would one day attempt to parlay that popularity into a political run and, if he could defeat a giant earthquake in San Andreas, then it seems certain he will defeat opponents in a parish council election.
“I think there’s a lot of good I can do for the people of Beddgelert,” he said, as he announced the run.
“After all, I am incredibly strong and am excellent after delivering a quip after I’ve knocked a bad guy unconscious and, obviously, in Fast and Furious 8, I battled a big submarine. I would imagine I’m the only person who can bring that sort of experience to the day-to-day administration of a small parish.”
His campaign began with him personally posting leaflets entitled ‘Let me ROCK Beddgelert’ through the letterboxes of every house in the village, and then setting up a trestle table outside the woodcraft shop with a jar of ‘ROCK Beddgelert’ badges from where he introduced himself to passers-by.
Locals were bemused.
“Do you elect people onto the parish council? I thought they just volunteered and then got on with it,” said Stewart James
“Still though, it’ll be nice to have The Rock involved in village administration, he was brilliant in Rampage with that big gorilla.”
However, it is thought that The Rock’s political ambitions in Beddgelert are only the beginning and after four years serving on the council, he could well move on to seek election for the town council of nearby Criccieth or even Caernarfon.

Locke sequel to be set entirely on the toilet
Tom Hardy 2013 suspense classic Locke is getting a surprise sequel which will be set entirely on the toilet.
The original film featured Tom Hardy as a building site boss fielding an increasingly tense series of phone calls using a convincing Welsh accent as he drives through the night.
The follow up will feature the same character who finds himself forced to spend ninety minutes on the toilet after a disastrous gamble with an out-of-date prawn enchilada.
During that time, he will have to organise sourcing a set of swings for a major project to re-concrete the local playground, try and book a table for his family at Pizza Hut, renegotiate his broadband contract, and complete a particularly tricky Candy Crush level.
“Its long been an ambition of mine to make a film about a man with a convincing Welsh accent trapped in the toilet,” said Star Tom Hardy.
“So, this Locke sequel is perfect. I mean, I’m hugely proud of the original and, frankly, the only way to improve on it is to set the entire thing in a toilet.”
Following the surprise success of the original Locke, the sequel will see an increase in budget.
“Yeah, I think that will really come through in the film’s production values,” said a clearly excited Hardy
“If nothing else, it’ll be a really, really nice toilet.”
