Season 2 of Netflix’s Dogs has been announced and it has been confirmed that it will examine the canine plot to overthrow and enslave humanity leading to dogs becoming the dominant species on the planet.
This will be quite the departure from the first season which was a heartwarming series of documentaries about the relationship between dogs and their owners.
“Naturally, my first thought was to take the same approach for the new season and I’d even lined up a nice story about a dog who helped his elderly owner knit socks for orphan children,” explained producer Kelly Grace.
“But that changed when I found out about the canine plot to overthrow humanity.”
Ms Grace overheard a cocker spaniel and a dalmatian discussing how they were going to make their owners live in kennels, fetch sticks and poo in the park.
“Through canine contacts I’d made in the first season, I found out about a large scale meeting in San Francisco and so I dressed up as a red setter and went along.”
Whilst there, Ms Grace learnt about a complex web of dog operatives across the world who were putting the finishing touches to a plan that would see all of humankind become slaves to dogs.
“It was a fascinating story and one I just knew would be perfect for the new season,” she said.
Season 2 of Netflix’s Dogs will premiere later this year and will be followed in several years by Netflix’s Humans, a series of documentaries that examine the relationship between humans and their canine masters.
