Godzilla vs Kong sees titular characters play game of chess

Godzilla vs Kong, released later this year, will see the two legendary monsters come together to do battle.

However, despite initial speculation that the battle would be an epic, breathtaking physical fight, producers have confirmed that it will actually be a game of chess.

“Yeah, a physical fight with Godzilla breathing fire and Kong with all his giant gorilla strength, I mean, I’m not going to deny that would be an incredible spectacle,” admitted director Adam Wingard.

“But we had to ask ourselves – would people really want to see that? I think the answer is No.

“I think people would genuinely prefer to see a more civilised way for the pair of them to settle their differences – like a nice game of chess.”

The epic chess battle will be set in New York’s Madison Square Gardens.

“Yeah, so, it’s such a great plot,” continued an enthusiastic Wingard.

“The world finds out about Kong on that island and is like ‘woah, giant gorilla, this is the greatest monster ever’ and Godzilla is like ‘Er, hello, fire-breathing lizard over here.’

“So, to settle who is actually the greatest monster ever, they agree to play chess at a match in Madison Square Gardens, which has never hosted a chess match before. So, you know, that’s a first.

“It’s going to be the most epic game of chess ever seen on film.”

It is understood that Godzilla vs Kong II is already planned in which the pair play each other at badminton and then a third film will be based around an enormous game of ker-plunk.
