After six weeks of lockdown, a family is experiencing such desperation and boredom with day-to-day life that they are considering rewatching Lost.
“We’ve done Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Wire, X-Files, Buffy, Friends – Dad’s even tried to get us to watch something called Lovejoy which seems to be a made-up version of Antiques Roadshow with the man from the hotel in John Wick,” said Kelly Grace, eldest daughter of the Grace family in Chelmsford, Essex.
“Mum says we don’t have to do that though, thank god.
“I mean I can’t see any really option but Lost.”
Jeremy Grace, the family’s father was resistant.
“No. I’m sorry, I can’t go through all that again,” he said.
“The polar bear, the smoke monster what’s in the hatch, Bosch living in a cave, the hobbit drowning, them all going home and then going back and then they turning out to be dead. The whole thing’s stupid and I’m having nothing to do with it.
“I don’t see what’s so wrong with Lovejoy.”
Liz Grace, Jeremy’s wife, appeared resigned to the family’s fate.
“I agree with my husband, I really do,” she said.
“No one wants to see the hobbit drown again but I really don’t see any other option. We’ll never get the kids to watch Lovejoy, and it’s not like we can spend the evenings just starring out of the window, or worse, watching ITV.
“I really think it’s going to have to be Lost, I really do. There’s nothing else we can do.”
Youngest son Sam, however, took a pragmatic approach to the prospect rewatching Lost.
“Has it got boobs in? If so, I’m in.”
