New Wicked: For Good trailer teases Tin Man, Scarecrow, Batman, Chewbacca and Gordon Brown

A new trailer for the hugely anticipated Wicked: For Good has given fans their first look the iconic Oz characters Tin Man, Scarecrow, Batman, Chewbacca and ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“These are the characters from Wizard of Oz we loved as kids,” explained director John Chu.

“We all remember Tin Man’s tragic longing for courage or Batman’s epic fight against the Gotham City Munchkins. Gordon Brown’s impassioned song against Scotland leaving the United Kingdom. It’s the moments, these characters, that made the original film one of the real all-timers.”

The trailer introduces Chewbacca and Scarecrow in what is clearly the first flush of romance, foreshadowing their heartbreaking estrangement in Wizard of Oz. Batman and his ward Tin Man are patrolling the crime-ridden streets of Pumperdink and Gordon Brown is drawing up a comprehensive economic programme in an attempt to avoid an economic downturn and potentially runaway inflation.

“Yeah, they’re the same old loveable gang of characters,” continued Chu.

“And now we get to see them before that iconic scene in Wizard of Oz where they defeat the Nazis for good.”

There will be disappointment for fans, however, as Chu confirmed that one iconic Wizard of Oz character will not be appearing this time.

“What? The Predator? No, we just couldn’t make it work.”
