Screen Idle can exclusively reveal that The Rock’s new movie Skyscraper will see him engage in a fist fight with the titular tower block.
The Rock plays a building inspector who becomes determined to expose the skyscraper after he loses his wallet in the lift or ‘elevator’ as Americans say, for reasons unknown.
“Everyone loves The Rock. Everyone. Even people who don’t love The Rock love The Rock,” said producer Frankie Sheen.
“The one thing that these fans have always wanted to know is – can The Rock beat up a skyscraper?
“This film will finally answer that question.”
The tower block in question is in New York, but The Rock’s character – Barry Danger – doesn’t realise that he’s lost his wallet until he returns home to Guernsey.
The film tells the story of Danger having to battle his way back to New York, before facing down the skyscraper in an epic ‘mano e buildingo’ fistfight that lasts for several hours and sees both The Rock and the skyscraper destroy the majority of the East Coast.
Skyscraper will be released later this year and, if successful, a sequel is planned in which The Rock beats up an entire city.
