Further details of The Conjuring 3: Puppies and Flowers have emerged that show a surprising new direction for the blockbuster franchise.
The Conjuring 2 was released in 2016 and featured the terrifying poltergeist haunting of a house in Enfield – The Conjuring 3: Puppies and Flowers will feature puppies and flowers.
“The first two films were quite relentless,” explained director James Wan.
“I mean, the ghosts, demons, poltergeists, possessions and all that are great but they get a little bit wearing after a while and I really think that what fans are looking for in this third film is a bit of a break from all that and the chance to see some nice puppies and flowers.”
Wan teased the plot of the film.
“Okay, so we’ve got our paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and they’ve decided to enter Ed’s impressive Begonias into local horticultural competition. However, they’d just bought a couple of cute puppies and now must battle to keep the puppies off the flowers until the competition.
“Expect lots of beautiful scenes of begonias and cute little moments with puppies running and playing and tripping over their own feet.
“I think people are going to love it.”
The Conjuring 3: Puppies and Flowers will be released next year.
As well as the Conjuring films themselves, the universe created in those films has expanded into other titles such as The Nun, Annabelle and The Curse of La Llorona. Wan confirmed that the new direction would run through those franchises as well.
“Yes, the sequel to The Nun has got two men hilariously dressing up as nuns to escape a crime syndicate, and the new Annabelle film is called Annabelle and the Nice Pony.”
