Director Matt Reeves has promised that The Batman 2 will be an even darker film than the first with plans to film in a deep hole at night.
“It’s always important that each Batman film is darker than the last,” said the Planet of the Apes director.
“The last film was dark, really dark. There were bits that it was impossible to tell who was doing what to whom and why because it was just so dark.”
The new film will be even darker.
“The Batman 2 is going to be insanely dark. We’ll film the whole thing in a really deep hole in the middle of the night. We’ll put a bag over the camera. We’ll make every character wear a black sheet. We’ll have the lighting guys shot. I swear, this is going to be the darkest Batman ever.”
Fans were excited about the news.
“Great. Someone who finally really gets Batman,” tweeted @brucewaynesnipples.
“These are dark, dark stories. I’ve got a comic that is just literally a series of black panels, you can’t even read the speech bubbles because it’s so very, very dark. I can’t wait to see that on screen. Or not see that!”
With the continuing trend to make each Batman film darker than the last, it is estimated that a potential sequel in 2028 would have to be filmed in a black hole.
