Star Wars fans start petition to remove cannon from The Last Jedi

A small group of Star Wars fans have started a petition to have a cannon removed from The Last Jedi.

As yet, there are little more details than this, but as it’s a group of men on the internet being cross about something fictional, then it’s fair to assume that the whole thing is brilliantly well thought through and entirely reasonable.

Whilst the use of the cannon in the context of the story seems entirely sensible to many people, to a plucky group of men who definitely have girlfriends, it is an affront that will not stand.

It is unclear exactly why the men want the cannon removed. Possibly because of the resemblance to the 1586 Tsar cannon, a well-known bombard that was never actually used in battle but only created for propaganda reasons, thus rendering its deployment in space somewhat unlikely.

Whilst we haven’t actually read the petition because life is far too short, we here at Screen Idle stand firmly behind this brave band of rebels and call on Lucasfilm to remove the cannon from the film and replace it with, I don’t know, a big space ray gun of doom or something.

May the Force go up you.
