Following news that Creed 2 will be directed Sylvester Stallone comes the announcement that the lead character of Creed Adonis ‘Donny’ Creed will be relegated to a supporting role and that the film will be about the Rocky Balboa played, entirely coincidentally, by Sylvester Stallone.
“Yeah, so I think that, really, although the last film was called Creed and was a story about a kid called Creed, it was really about Rocky Balboa,” said the Rocky legend
“So, I think that what we’re going to see from this next film is a lot more about Rocky.”
Asked what would happen to Adonis Creed in the new film, Mr Stallone responded that he was still finessing the story.
“Who cares. He becomes world champion. How ‘bout that? But we do that in the credits sequence. Get it out of the way. Then we get to Rocky’s story. He’s been laid low with Hodgkin’s, okay? So, the treatment doesn’t work, so Rocky cures it himself by punching his head so hard that all the Hodgkin’s germs die.
“Then Rocky makes his comeback in boxing despite being 70 and, okay get this, he gets to the World finals of Boxing, but the same day, he can fly out to Syria and have a boxing match with Islamic State’s number one boxer. If the terrorist wins, Islamic State get to take over the world, but if Rocky wins, he defeats terrorism forever. So he takes the flight and the fate of the world is in Rocky’s hands.”
“And that’s Creed 2”
Sylvester Stallone was nominated for an Oscar for the first Creed film, it is thought unlikely he will repeat the feat for Creed 2.
