Following the success of scary clown movie ‘It’, over thirty new scary clown movies have been announced for 2018.
“Yeah, I mean, really it’s a coincidence because I had an idea for a scary clown picture long before ‘It’ was a success,” said Stephen Barker, director of ‘That’ – a 2018 film that pitches a scary clown against a plucky gang of kids.
“I mean, I really admire ‘It’. Hell of a picture but, to be honest, I didn’t even notice the similarities with ‘That’ until my wife mentioned it a few days after we saw it.”
Mr Barker refutes any accusations of bandwagon-jumping
“No. I mean, I think they’re really different, you know? ‘It’ is set in 1988 whereas ‘That’ is set in 1986. The lead kid in ‘It’ is Stuttering Bill, whereas in ‘That’ it’s stuttering Dave. I mean, Bill and Dave? They’re completely different.”
“I mean, yes, they’re both set in small Maine towns, but ‘It’ is set in summer whereas ‘That’ is set in late summer.
“If anything, the people who made ‘It’ are the real bandwagon-jumpers, I had ‘That’ in my head for years. I think it was some book in the eighties that originally gave me the idea.”
‘That’ joins ‘This,’ ‘The Other,’ ‘She,’ ‘He,’ and ‘It – Oh crap, we’ve had that, haven’t we?’ all featuring scary clowns and due next year.
