The ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ movie is sure to be one of the best films of the mid-nineties, critics have said.
The movie, which was released last Friday, has already made a huge impact at the box office, after at least two dozen people flocked to see it, and with at least a third of those coming out at the end describing it as ‘pretty good’.
Noted film critic Marcel Commode remarked, “The key to the inevitably wild and enduring success of this movie will not be the plot so much, but the timing of its release.”
He explained, “Taking a popular video game which literally every child in the land is playing on their Mega Drive and turning into a film is a genius idea. A game to film conversion surely can’t fail.”
He went on, “But it’s not just that – when you watch this film, at first glance it looks like bits of it are a cartoon, but this is actually something called CGI, and it will be interesting to see how this technology advances over the coming decades to the point of looking vaguely realistic.”
One of the executive producers of the movie, Collette Alltherings, recently revealed in an interview with Colony magazine that some of the success could also be attributed to shrewd casting.
“After his recent successes with Ace Ventura, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber, it was an absolute no-brainer to cast Jim Carrey as the villain of the movie” she explained.
“He truly is the man of the moment.”
Asked about future plans for the franchise, she replied, “Well, we’ll see how this film does.
“You could see a game based on the film being released on the Game Gear in the very near future.”
