Experts have warned that a remake of 1992 Whoopi Goldberg classic Sister Act may be inevitable.
The worrying news comes in the wake of classic musicals such as Dirty Dancing and Footloose being remade with devastating results.
“We’ve run a number of different predictive models,” said Harvey Smith, Professor of science and musicals at Harvard.
“No matter what variables we enter, it seems that there is no other outcome – a remake of Sister Act is inevitable.”
The remake is not only inevitable but imminent warns Professor Smith.
“All it takes is for one guy at one lunch somewhere to go – ‘hey, you remember that singing nun picture with Whoopi Goldberg?’ – and before you know it, they’re measuring up nun habits and trying to work out whose got the rights to those old Motown records.”
Professor Smith warns that there isn’t a great deal you can do to avoid the remake.
“No, they’ll almost certainly cast a perky popstar who you’ve never heard of as the lead and she is going to be all over the talk shows.
“I’d say the best thing to do, if you have any affection for the original, is to buy a DVD and keep your head down until the whole nightmare blows over.”
