Se7en box revealed to actually contain a Lighthouse Family CD

David Fincher has broken his silence on exactly what was in the box at the end of Se7en and revealed that it was, in fact, a copy of the Lighthouse Family’s first CD – Ocean Drive.

The contents famously cause Brad Pitt’s Detective Mills to suffer a complete psychological breakdown and shoot the Kevin Spacey serial killer character.

“I can’t believe people thought that was Gwyneth Paltrow’s head in there,” said the director.

“Gross.”

The Oscar nominated director went on to explain the thinking behind the box in Se7en.

“It needed to be something that would be profoundly damaging to the psyche of the Detective Mills character. Something that could break a man. Turn him to despair about the very nature of humanity’s existence.”

“The only logical item is a copy of the first Lighthouse Family CD.”

The contents of the box also complete the serial killer’s attempts to recreate all the deadly sins in the Bible.

“Exactly, John Doe gives Mills the Lighthouse Family CD, then is envious that Mills has the CD. I mean, he’s crazy, right? So that works.”

“Then Mills, seeing that he now owns a Lighthouse Family CD, is overwhelmed with wrath and kills John Doe.”

“It all ties up.”

Mr Fincher also revealed that that originally it was the Spin Doctors 1991 album Pocket Full of Kryptonite in the box.

“Yeah, but that would too much, you know?” He explained.

“I mean, unexpectedly owning that Spin Doctors record? We only wanted wrath, not apocalyptic, cataclysmic all-encompassing rage.”

“And the guy who suggested using the Billy Ray Cyrus record? That’s just sadistic.”
