Film fans everywhere have been left bemused by the news that a new Smurfs movie is in production.
The film, called ‘Smurfs on the Block’ or something, will feature the small blue goblins having to form a hip-hop gang of street-dancers to save an orphanage from corrupt politicians and drug dealers.
Probably.
To be honest, we haven’t checked, but it sounds like the sort of thing that a new Smurfs film would come up with.
“Right, so people like smurfs then?” said bemused film fan Jason Rush.
“I mean, good luck to them and everything, I suppose, but really, is anyone bothered about a new Smurfs film? I’d have thought even kids only go and see Smurfs films when there isn’t a Disney film on and its really, really raining.”
It is expected that the new film will feature a cameo from a popstar you’ve never heard of, a poorly-judged sexual reference, and a promotional tie-in with a third-rate fast-food chain like Wimpy, or Little Caesars.
“Well, I don’t suppose it will bother me,” said Mr Rush, echoing the views of many.
‘Smurfs on the Block,’ or whatever it’s called, will be out in cinemas at some point in the next few years and should not be confused with James Cameron’s Avatar 2.
