Following the revelation that Emperor Palpatine actually survived the end of Return of the Jedi, rumours have begun to circulate than Darth Vader has similarly survived and may even be returning to public life in the form of a contestant on the new series of Strictly.

Although BBC bosses have yet to confirm the Strictly line-up for this year, Lord Vader is a favourite to be putting in an appearance alongside other potential contestants such as Tamara Ecclestone and Sam Allerdyce.

“It makes sense, if you think about it,” claimed Strictly superfan and Bank of England governor Mark Carney.

“I mean, he’s been out of the public eye for a while, but most people know who he is.

“Alright, so he’s profoundly evil but, you know, they’ve had Anne Widdecombe on before.

“Also, it could be, like, a redemptive arc. He comes on and is booed by the audience for his complicity in the destruction of Alderaan and generally being evil, but then he works really hard and does his best and in the third episode he busts out a really impressive jive that the judges love and people start to get won over.

“I wouldn’t have thought he’d win or anything, but it could restart his career and lead into a lucrative period of presenting travel documentaries on BBC2 on Sunday evenings.”

Other rumoured contestants include Thanos, The Night King and the clown from IT, suggesting this could be the most evil series of Strictly since 2008.
