Projected low supplies sees Sony create PlayStation 5 Thunderdome programme

With limited supplies of the new PlayStation projected, Sony has taken action and announced a new PlayStation 5 Thunderdome programme.

“We wanted to be sure that the most deserving gamers are able to claim the PlayStation 5,” explained Sony representative Stewart James.

“Too often it is those gamers who are more well-off, or have the foresight to pre-order very early on, who are able to have first access to a new console.

“That is not fair. They are not the most deserving gamers. The most deserving of the new PlayStation are those who are able to prove themselves in the physical combat of the Thunderdome.”

Thunderdomes are being constructed now in major cities around the world in preparation for the launch of the new console.

When preordering opens, gamers will receive an entry voucher for their nearest Thunderdome.

In the several weeks leading up to release date, gamers will fight each other using a variety of melee weapons in the Thunderdomes for the right to pick up one of the first waves of PS5s.

“Two men enter, one man leaves…with a PlayStation, as the old saying goes,” chuckled James.

Gamers welcomed the development.

“Good to see Sony taking pre-emptive action on supply shortages,” said @CrashBandicootsPants

“I mean, granted, I could be maimed of even killed in Thunderdome combat, but it’ll be worth it to play the Final Fantasy 7 remake with slightly better graphics.”

The Thunderdome protocol, whilst unusual, is not unheard of in situations like this. In the early nineties, Sega brought in Thunderdomes when supplies of the Megadrive dried up, as did Microsoft with the Xbox 360.

Nintendo had the Thunderdomes built for the launch of the Wii U, but sadly they went unused.
