Peep Show to be remade in US with cats

Peep Show

Hit British sitcom Peep Show is to be remade in the US, only instead of using human actors, like the original, the entire cast will be made up of cats.

“Peep Show is great, real great,” explained visionary producer Stewart James.

“But, you know, it’s kind of focused on humans. Which is terrific, but it’s pretty limiting, you know?

“So, we thought maybe we could widen the demographic by making Mark and Jez cats.”

The remake will, however, retain the original’s innovation of hearing the main cast’s internal monologue.

“Yeah, come on, of course. I mean, that’s the thing that makes the show so great.

“It’ll just by an internal cat monologue instead, so rather than Mark going ‘oh man, I hope I get a promotion and make out with the hot chick,’ he’ll be going ‘meow, meow,’ you know?”

The leads in the remake have, somewhat surprisingly, gone to unknowns, with Mark played by a tabby called Jingles, and Jez played by a Siamese called Bobbins.

“They’re terrific, though,” continued Mr James.

“They’ve got the great chemistry that you see in the original, but these guys can lick their own butts, which should really set it apart from the British version.”

The remake is due next year, and producers will be hoping for greater success than the time Men Behaving Badly was remade in America with hamsters.
