“No Endgame?” – 15-year-old boy disagrees with Sight and Sound top 100 movies list

A 15-year-old boy has decried the latest Sight and Sound top 100 films poll, stating in no uncertain terms that it is ‘rubbish.’

“I mean, where’s Endgame? Endgame was amazing. You know, it was epic, exciting and then when Tony dies that’s, like, the greatest moment in movies ever,” said Stewart James, a 15-year-old boy who has been really, really into film for two or three years now, and is considering taking an A-Level in Film Studies.

“I get that there’s going to be a load of really old films, although, if you’re going for really old films, where’s Gladiator? That’s a classic, one of my dad’s favourite films, and The Departed – that’s sick!”

Stewart admitted that he hadn’t seen many of the films.

“Well, no, I mean, it’s not like the local Odeon shows Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans of a Friday night. Also, even if it did, I’m hardly likely to go and see that, am I? It’s a hundred years old, how am I meant to care about that.”

It wasn’t just the absence of Avengers: Endgame that bothered Stewart.

“No Black Panther. I mean, yeah, I’m sure Tokyo Story is alright, but I bet it doesn’t invent a complete afro-futurist world. That’s ground-breaking. No Inception, Soul, or Hamilton? I mean, they obviously don’t mind musicals, so where’s Hamilton? It’s mad.”

Stewart had some advice for the critics who voted for the list.

“Maybe watch some new films? I mean, if you subscribe to Disney+, you’ll get all the Marvel films, and Star Wars, and all sorts.

“Maybe just try and broaden your minds a bit?”
