Indiana Jones refuses to let daughter turn on central heating in The Dial of Destiny

The fifth Indiana Jones film will see the professor and adventurer refuse to let his daughter turn the central heating on.

The title Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny refers to the dial on the thermostat that Doctor Jones has set so that the central heating comes on when it reaches 18 degrees centigrade (or whatever mad number Americans make up to represent temperature in Fahrenheit, 78? -106? Who knows).

His daughter, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is a bit chilly and wants to turn the central heating on. Indy insists she just put on a jumper. So begins the battle to control…The Dial of Destiny.

“It’s very much a new side of Indy we’re seeing here,” said director and beard pioneer Steven Spielberg.

“This is an adventure in his home. In his family. The stakes are high, but the conflict in this film is personal.

“What really attracted me to this story is that there aren’t really any defined villains. There’s no right or wrong. It’s all shades of grey. Indy doesn’t want anyone messing with the central heating. Of course, he doesn’t, he’s set the dial to the optimum level, these are difficult times and he can’t afford to waste money. His daughter, on the other hand, just wants to warm up a bit, that’s a basic human need we can all relate to.

“It’s a fascinating dilemma for Indy.”

Both Harrison Ford and Spielberg have already committed to a sixth film in which Indy tries to find out who left the bloody light in in there in Indiana Jones and the Dreadful Illumination.
