Following the success of such programmes as Comedians in a Car Getting Coffee and Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, a new programme about two comedians popping to the shop is being planned.
Don’t Forget the Milk will feature Simon Amstell and him from Outnumbered popping to the big ASDA out by the ring road to do a weekly big shop.
“It’s absolutely hilarious,” claimed producer Dawn Saunders.
“The chemistry between Simon and him from Outnumbered is really special, and that really shines through as they try and decide if it’s worth spending that bit extra for Bird’s Eye fish fingers or not.”
The programme shows the two friends parking, finding a pound for the trolley, following a shopping list then having a nice gammon lunch in the café.
“Yes, it is cheap,” confirmed Ms Saunders.
“But, to be honest, we hadn’t even noticed how cheap it was until we were well into filming, that was not a consideration at all.”
The series begins in Autumn and the first episode features a hilarious moment when him from Outnumbered has to deal with a woman asking him if he’s ‘him from Outnumbered,’ and he says he is and she goes away.
If Don’t Forget the Milk is a success then a future programme about two middle-aged comedians waiting for the bus.
