The new Avengers game will come with microtransactions that will allow gamers to download new character models of the Avengers that actually look like the Avengers.
After being revealed at E3, the Avengers game came in for criticism for featuring character models that looked like they’d been based on the superhero pictures seen painted on the side of the dodgems at the local fair.
“Hey, look, the important thing is to give gamers a choice,” explained Jeremy Bastard, a producer at Square Enix, who have developed the game.
“Some people may want their superheroes to look like a bunch of extras from a seventies TV film, and that’s fine. They’re taken care of.
“But, we recognise that there are some people who would prefer to play with Avengers who look like the Avengers and so by paying a small large fee, they will be able to download those character models and use them for as long as they like or until we decide to cancel that DLC and charge for a different set of character models.”
There had been speculation that the Avengers would only feature the superheroes in civilian clothes, with microtransactions to download their iconic Avenger uniforms, however this doesn’t seem to be the case.
“No, we’d never considered that,” confirmed Mr Bastard.
“But now that you mention it…”
