New all-dog Shawshank Redemption remake due this year

An ambitious new all-dog Shawshank Redemption remake is due in cinemas later this year.

“I loved Shawshank, I thought it was a beautiful picture,” said director Kelly Grace.

“But, like a lot of people, I did think that it was a mistake to make it with a human cast. I mean, I know that the original Stephen King story features humans and that’s fine, but I did feel that, if they had used a cast of dogs then there would have been far greater wagginess to the story that was sadly missed in the original.”

It is understood that the characters will remain the same, with Andy Dusfrane being played by a Labrador called Benji and Red being played by an old King Charles Spaniel called Fitz.

“The beats of the story also remain the same, only told from a more canine perspective,” confirmed Grace.

“So, Andy doesn’t play the Mozart aria when he receives the records for the library, but instead plays ‘How much is that doggy in the window.’

“Rather than Andy and his friends requesting two beers each whilst tarring the roof, they request two dog-biscuits each.”

However, Grace refused to confirm or deny the controversial rumour that the famous Raquel Welch poster in Dusfrane’s cell will be replaced by a Rin-tin-tin poster.

The Shawshank Redemption remake will be called The Pawshank Redemption and is being filmed in smell-o-vision so that dogs coming to see the movie will be able to sniff the butts of the dogs on screen from the comfort of their own seats.
