More details of the new Mortal Kombat film have emerged, including news that it will climax a 30-minute speech about how everyone should just get along.
“This is very much a Mortal Kombat for 2021,” said director Simon McQuoid.
“Yes, we’re going to have Sub-Zero rip out someone’s spine, but he’s not going to feel good about it. He knows that violence doesn’t solve anything. They all do, and I suppose that that’s what this film is about.”
The film tells the story of a mysterious, intergalactic tournament of violent martial arts.
“The thing to remember here is it’s only superficially about punching someone’s face until it collapses but really, it’s about how it would be better if you didn’t punch someone’s face until it collapses.
“I want people to see someone karate-kicking a hole through a man’s chest and leave thinking ‘that’s bad, I will never karate-kick a hole in a man’s chest.’ If we’ve done that then I think we’ve been successful.”
It was this thinking that led to the creation of the climatic set-piece in which Shaolin Monk Liu Kang gives a 30-minute speech about how everyone should just get along.
“Everyone should just get along,” continued McQuoid.
“I wanted to make that clear and what better way to do that than to have Liu Kang, knee deep in the viscera of men and women he’s just slaughtered, deliver a passionate speech about how everyone just get along to a weeping and applauding crowd.”
The film then ends with everyone resolving to never hold the Mortal Kombat tournament again and they instead establish the new Intergalactic Festival of Being Nice to Each Other and Just Getting Along.
A powerful message for 2021.

‘The Great Replacement Bus Service Robbery’ in the works
A re-imagining of ‘The Great Train Robbery’ will be released next year and, because it’s set in the Southern Trains area, will not actually feature any moving trains at all.
The film, ‘The Great Replacement Bus Service Robbery’ will be based loosely on the events of the actual 1963 crime, but will re-imagine the farcical events that take place when the criminal masterminds have to improvise when they realise the locomotive they were hoping to burglarise is replaced between Rugby and Birmingham New Street by a coach.
The robbers, led by Buster Edwards (Zayn Malik) spend months planning the robbery in the most minute detail, with timings to the last second, only to be undone when nothing comes through Coventry and they all sit there bored whilst armed to the hilt with a couple of big nicked vans.
The action switches between the gang and Trevor, a loose cannon coach driver, who is completely unaware of his lucky escape, instead bemoaning his fate because ‘the stupid track work has overrun again, love. We can go to bingo next week, I promise’.
The gang improvise and steal some fags and a twix from a Shell garage.
The film’s credits will feature Malik ruining the ‘The Thomas the Tank Engine Theme’.
