Lord of the Rings Zoom reunion marred by poor-quality broadband in Hobbiton

The Lord of the Rings Zoom reunion of the entire Fellowship of the Ring was marred by Hobitton’s famously poor-quality broadband.

Whilst many people enjoyed seeing the group who saved Middle-Earth back on screen, there was frustration at the picture drop-outs and stuttering from the hobbits.

The reunion began with Samwise Gamgee asking if sound was working for everyone, as he could see them, but there was no sound. Aragorn advised him to re-join the meeting.

As Sam re-joined, Merry suddenly shouted that everyone had frozen – “is it just me? Can anyone hear me? You’ve all just- hello?” Aragorn advised him to re-join the meeting.

Pippen apologised saying the internet in Hobbitton was rubbish, and that he’d tried to download a trilogy of three three-hour-long films that no one had heard of, and it took two days.

Gandalf arrived late as he couldn’t remember his password – “Typical” muttered Frodo, “was it ‘friend?’”

Merry then froze on screen and his session began to emitted a low buzz. Aragorn advised him to re-join the meeting. When he didn’t, Pippen said he’d WhatsApp him as he probably couldn’t hear.

Merry re-joined and apologised – “It’s ridiculous, it’s 2020, I don’t know how Hobbiton can compete on a global level with internet like this. You can’t even stream…you know…things.”

Sam then said he was going to shut the video off as it might help.

Finally, the Hobbiton internet appeared to stabilise, and there followed twenty minutes of chat and reminiscing before Gimli asked exactly what Sam and Frodo got up to together all alone on that mountain.

There was a long pause and then Frodo made a brief buzzing noise said ‘Oh no, my Zoom session’s broken again. Hasn’t yours Sam?’ Sam agreed and they both left the meeting, and the Lord of the Rings Zoom reunion came to an end.
