Jurassic World: Dominion production to restart after confirmation of dinosaur Covid immunity

It has been announced that Jurassic World: Dominion production will restart following confirmation that dinosaurs are fully immune to Covid and cannot contract the virus nor spread it to humans.

Although some films have managed to restart production by introducing strict safety measures, it had been thought that Jurassic World: Dominion production would not restart until next year as it would be very difficult to encourage dinosaurs to maintain a safe social distance, and there are very few face-masks available that could correctly fit a Tyrannosaurs Rex.

There had been discussion that the production could go back to using CGI to create the dinosaurs as they did in the original Spielberg trilogy. But the immunity means that they can continue using the real-life dinosaurs that have made the sequel trilogy so popular.

“It’s great news that our dinosaurs are immune to Covid,” said director Colin Trevorrow.

“Obviously, firstly, we just don’t want them to come to any harm. We’ve worked with them for ten years or so now, and we’ve formed a pretty close bond.

“But what it does also mean is that we’re able to safely restart production on the new picture.”

However, the Covid crisis means that there will be a change to the plot of the film.

“Oh yeah. That’s inevitable. We need to keep everyone safe and socially distanced, so you can’t really have more than one person in a scene. One person and dinosaurs – fine. But two people? Not so much.

“So, we’ve changed the plot and now, about halfway through the film, all the humans decide to go home because there’s something really good on Netflix, and it’s just left to Chris Pratt to find all the dinosaurs. He then teams up with his raptor squad and there’s Chris and the raptors going across America and fighting other dinosaurs and that’s the second half of the film.”

As a result of the plot changes, the film title has also been changed and Jurassic World: Chris Pratt’s Raptor Squad will be released later next year.
