JJ Abrams gives assurance there are no plans for Lost reboot

Producer JJ Abrams has sought to reassure fans that he has no plans for a Lost reboot

He made the comments after a recent spate of reboots and remakes led some to fear that Lost would be making a comeback with all its attendant nonsense about hatches, smoke monsters, and everyone being dead.

“No, there is no cause for any alarm,” he said.

“I’m definitely not bringing back Lost.

“I mean, to be honest, by the end of it, I’d pretty much lost track of what was going on.

“There was something about a cave, wasn’t there? And didn’t everyone live in the past? I can’t remember.

“If I’m honest, by the end, we were all just getting drunk and just saying the first thing that came into our heads.

“That thing where the island randomly moves about in the ocean? We were on the fifth bottle of wine when we came up with all that. I can’t drink like that anymore.”

Abrams briefly speculated about what a Lost reboot would look like.

“I don’t know, the island turns upside down above Florida and John Locke turns into a pigeon in order to battle with a worm that embodies all the evil in the world? Something like that.

“Whatever, we’re definitely not doing it, so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Whilst Abrams’ assurances were greeted gratefully, there was still the underlying concern amongst fans that another party might try and resurrect the show without Abrams and everyone would face the prospect of another seven years of trying to figure out what was going on with that polar bear.
