Goonies sequel sees middle-aged Goonies form consortium to build country club in old neighbourhood

A proposed Goonies sequel will see a middle-aged and regretful Mikey and the gang come together to form a consortium to buy up their old neighbourhood and build a country club.

“Look, that first film is a classic, but they were just kids, they had no concept of the returns that a country club in that part of town could provide,” explained producer Kelly Grace.

“In this new film, they’re older, they’re wiser, they want a solid investment that will provide for them and their families as they all grow older.”

The film will begin with a middle-aged Mikey struggling to pay off the mortgage on his suburban family home after the Cultural Antiquities branch of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs reclaimed the ‘rich stuff’ that the Goonies stole in the first film.

His lifelong friend Richard, or Data as he was known on the first film, comes to him with a once in a lifetime opportunity to become part of the consortium to build the country club.

“It’s a chance for Mikey, for all the Goonies, to right their wrongs of the first film and finally let the leisure industry triumph in Astoria.”

The film sees the reformed Goonies do battle with a new group of children who are desperate to save their homes and neighbourhood.

“Yeah, but the Goonies, you know, they know all the tricks, they know what these kids will do, because they did it themselves in the first film, so they win out, successfully evict the kids and their families and look forward to some really quite favourable returns from their new country club,” said Ms Grace

Should the Goonies sequel prove as successful as people expect, there are plans afoot for a new Back to the Future film that sees middle-aged Marty head back to 1985 to encourage him to forget about that time-travel business and work hard at his studies to achieve a meaningful career in insurance as he grows older.
