Fossilised hot dog and Fanta cup clear evidence dinosaurs enjoyed going to cinema

Scientists have uncovered startling new evidence that seems to conclusively prove that dinosaurs spent their Friday nights, much like modern humans do, going to the cinema.

“It was a remarkable find,” explained Stewart James, a professor in ancient cinema from Oxford University.

“My colleagues had already unearthed a significant number of fossils at the site in south-west Patagonia, then they called me. I was surprised, but not nearly as a surprised as when I arrived at the site and saw what they had uncovered.”

Dr James found himself looking at the fossilised remains of a hot dog and Fanta cup.

“Initially, I thought it was an extra-large Fanta cup, but then, dinosaurs were really big, so perhaps to them it was just a regular or even small one.

“It was an incredible find though. The Fanta cup was perfect, it even had retained its orange colour. Interestingly, the hot dog didn’t have a bite taken from it. Why not? Could it be that the asteroid struck during the adverts and the dinosaur was extinct before he had chance to even start his hot dog?”

Scientists have long speculated that dinosaurs enjoyed going to the cinema.

“Well, what else are they going to do on a Friday night? Books were out of the question; they’re arms are too small. We’ve never found any evidence of dino-pubs and the idea of dinosaurs going to pop concerts is a little fanciful.

“That just leaves cinemas, and this fossilised Fanta cup and hot dog seems to prove that that’s how they spent their time. We’re going to keep digging in the area to see what else we can find out. Did dinosaur cinemas have trailers? Pick and Mix? Fancy expensive seats at the back? There’s just so much we don’t know about the cinema-going habits of dinosaurs.”

One thing that Dr James believes he does know though, is what films the dinosaurs would have enjoyed.

“James Bond films, I’d have thought,” he said, “they’ve been going for ages.”
