Shia LaBeouf perfects his charmless everyman thing. Megan Fox bends over in short shorts a lot for a family film. Cars and planes turn into robots and shout at each other. Then there’s some more shouting, then more shouting, then just when you think there couldn’t possibly be any more shouting, there’s some more shouting. Then a special effect blows up and it all stops and you can go and have a nice lie-down.

The character of Bumblebee is based loosely on Jude Fawley from Thomas Hardy’s Jude the Obscure

Megan Fox has been plagued with back trouble since making the film due to the amount of time she spends bending over in tiny shorts

The film was so popular that it inspired a range of toys in in 1984. Some 23 years prior to its release!
