Deep Impact

After surviving the comet from Armageddon, another one turns up and this time it’s up to Robert Duvall to duff it up. Morgan Freeman gets to do lots of sad President acting. Téa Leoni does lots of plucky reporter acting. Frodo is an annoying teenager. It’s all terribly serious about comets and no one drills a big hole into anything. So, what’s even the point.

Trivia

Elijah Wood had to spend three tedious hours in make-up every morning having his hobbit feet disguised as human feet.

The story is loosely based on The Pardoner’s Tale of Comets from Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.

In order to achieve the impressive looking comet impact, a second Earth was created on the other side of the solar system and a comet crashed into it.

It isn’t Armageddon

Bloopers

When the comet is hurtling towards earth, just before impact it briefly takes on the appearance of legendary British light entertainer Bruce Forsyth.

Quotes

“Armageddon outta here…no, wait.”
