Earth becomes a bit smelly, so Matthew McConaughey decides to go and have an exciting space adventure. He goes to all sorts of crazy planets; one where time goes really quickly, one where there’s a big ocean, and one with Matt Damon on it. Then he gets bored of space adventures and decides to come home and live in a bookcase instead.

Due to Christopher Nolan’s dislike of CGI, a giant bookcase was built for Matthew McConaughey to incomprehensibly muck about in for the final scenes in the film

Matt Damon enjoyed his scenes on the remote planet so much that he bought the planet and now lives there with wife Ben Affleck

Christopher Nolan made the conscious decision to not have audible dialogue because he enjoys annoying people

The part of Murph was originally written for former Secretary of State John Kerry, but Jessica Chastain was so impressive in audition that she was cast instead
