12 Angry Men

A number of men with incredibly good hats have to decide whether a thing happened or not. Initially they all think it did happen, but after an hour and a half of shouting at each other, they decide that it didn’t.

Trivia

12 Angry Men was originally rated ‘X’ for ‘excessive nudity and offensive acts.’ 32 minutes of cuts were required before it was released as ‘PG.’

Although initially unsuccessful, the staggering success of 12 Angry Men toys and playsets mean it is now one of the most profitable movies of all time.

Although set in a New York jury room, the picture was filmed in the Llangrannog village hall in Wales and dressed to look like a typical New York jury room.

Look closely and the role of court clerk, seen only briefly, was actually played by chameleonic Batman star Christian Bale. It was his first role and he filmed it an astonishing 18 years before he was born.

Bloopers

The film actually features 13 angry men but because they never appear onscreen together, no one ever realised. Embarrassingly, this went unnoticed until 1991.

In Henry Fonda’s blistering speech denouncing prejudice, he has no trousers on.

Quotes
