Ubisoft have revealed further details of Far Cry 6’s powerful new crafting system. As well as letting the user craft weapons, potions, and bags, there will be the ability to craft a full twelve-piece funk band, some fancy cakes and, at higher levels, an alternative reality.
“If you’re trying to take down an outpost, one of the tactics you can employ is distraction,” explained producer Stewart James.
“Previously, that may have meant setting off an explosion to force the outpost soldiers to a specific area. In Far Cry 6, you will be able to deploy a funk band on the road outside the outpost that, at its highest level, will be able to perform a full set of Temptations and Commodores hits. Naturally that will prove a powerful diversion.”
The fancy cake crafting tree can also take gameplay in a surprising new direction.
“At its initial level, it just allows the player to craft gateaux and flans that will boost morale but slightly lower health,” continued Stewart.
“As your cake-crafting abilities grow, however, you can create a chain of patisseries that can change the balance of the economy on Yara in your favour.”
Finally, and perhaps most enticingly, there will be the opportunity within Far Cry 6 to craft a complete alternative reality.
“This was always going to get the most attention,” chuckled Stewart.
“When you’ve maxed out your crafting skill, it’s true, you can craft a completely new alternative reality that will allow you to escape Yara and spend your time in a dimension populated by hyper-intelligent dogs, or a reality where everything is just cheese.
“The possibilities are pretty much endless.”
Far Cry 6 will release in October, and will be available as a Special Collector’s Edition that contains an actual real-life alternate reality that the player can display in their home.

Work on live action Incredibles halted in wake of horrific death by stretching
Early auditions for a potential live action Incredibles move have resulted in the horrific death of an actress when she was overstretched beyond her elastic limit.
Casting Director Bird Brady said, “Unfortunately, the waitress who came in for the audition was ill-prepared for the role of Elastigirl, believing her to be something to do with sticking plasters.
“Once we’d convinced her that she needed to grab a lamppost on each side of a road – which to be fair to her, she managed first time – then dampen a speeding car coming towards her to a complete stop… Well, let’s just stop it there, shall we, as it’s a little graphic to say the least.
“Unfortunately, her elasticity powers were limited due to her being a normal human being.”
Producer for the Pixar remake, Samuel Lee, said, “This will give us pause for consideration of just how viable the Pixar classics are for remakes.
“We’re particularly concerned for Inside-Out as jamming all those different actors inside one little girl’s head could prove really quite dangerous.
