Everyone only pretending to hate Love Actually to try and look cool, finds study

A study has found that the vast majority of people only pretend not to like Christmas classic Love Actually in order to impress their friends and try and look cool.

In fact, the study shows that the people who claim to dislike the film the most, actually secretly bunk off on the first day of December to sit on the sofa in their pyjamas, eating Celebrations and sobbing their hearts out when the Spanish girl agrees to marry Colin Firth.

“I don’t think the results came as too much of a shock,” said Emma Grant, professor of Brilliant Christmas Films at Oxford University.

“I mean, that bit where Hugh Grant does a funny dance is terribly winning and, although it is disappointing that dad Liam Neeson doesn’t gun down any euro-bastard terrorists, few would deny that his relationship with his son is a delight.”

The study goes on to conclude that it would be better for all concerned if we all just admitted the film is lovely and that the BBC should show it at least once a day throughout December.

However, according to the study, the one thing everyone seems to agree on is that the bit with him from Walking Dead and Keira Knightley is really weird and stalky and you should just fast forward through it.
