EA, producers of the new much-maligned shooter – Anthem – are to be challenged in court over their recent claim the game ‘may not be perfect, but is definitely more fun than a punch in the face.’
The comment in defensive of a statement by one Stewart James, a competitive cross-stitcher from Cork, who had recently received a punch to the face and, whilst painful and uncomfortable, was adamant that it was still a more fun experience than playing Anthem.
“Look, someone has to make a stand,” said Mr James.
“If you don’t there’s going to be people out there who go – ‘brilliant, playing Anthem is more fun than a punch to the face’ – and they’re going to go and buy it and play it and they’re going to be so disappointed when they find out that it isn’t more fun than a punch in the face.”
Legal experts suggest that Mr James has a case.
“Well, I’ve played Anthem,” said US Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
“And, I must say that I would imagine that being punched in the face is a more fun experience what with the long load times, paucity of loot and repetitive mission structure.
“I think EA have a case to answer.”
If the court case is successful, EA will most likely be compelled to take back copies of Anthem from disappointed players and offer a punch in the face instead.
It is expected many players will accept the offer.
