Dune Part Two could be split into two parts with the potential for the second part to be a trilogy

Dune Part Two could well be split into two different films and, according to some rumours, the second part could end up becoming a trilogy.

“That first Dune was a huge hit. I guess because it didn’t have Sting in a big blue codpiece. Or maybe despite that,” said a studio executive who wished to remain anonymous.

“So, we’re pretty confident that part two will be just as big a hit, and you know what’s even better than a huge hit film? Two huge hit films. So, we’re really giving some serious consideration to turning part two into two parts. I mean, they did that with the final part of Harry Potter, and Fast and Furious, so why not?

“I mean sure, we’d find a bit more plot, but how hard can that be? We’ll have Paul enter some sandworm races and be mentored by a wise old sandworm, or we could have his mum do one of those forbidden romance things. Like In the Mood for Love but in space. Or we could do something with Darth Vader, everyone loves Darth Vader.”

If the change in plans go ahead, then Dune Part Two Part One would be released this Autumn as expected, with Dune Part Two Part Two to follow next year, unless another rumoured change proves to be true.

“Okay, I’m not saying we’ve made any decision either way,” continued the exec.

“But, there’s definitely serious consideration to making Part Two of Part Two a trilogy. I mean, everyone loves Dune, right? So, this way, we all get even more Dune!”

The exec would not be drawn on rumours that a final part of the rumoured trilogy could end up being an expensive ten-part Netflix series or if that series would then go on to generate a spin-off movie.
