Downton Abbey 3: Wonder Butler sees Bates develop super-butler powers

Downton Abbey 3 has been confirmed and will see the beloved franchise entering the world of superheroes as Bates develops super-butler powers.

Beginning with Lord Crawley and Bates visiting London, A strange, ill-looking butler begins following the pair about town. One night, while they sleep, the strange butler climbs in through an open window and bites Bates on the arm and then makes off into the night.

It turns out the strange butler is radioactive and so his bite imbues Bates with super-butler powers. He can make a pot of tea in a matter of seconds, iron several newspapers at once – even the hefty Sunday ones, and is able to see microscopic flecks of dust on his master’s suits that would be invisible to all other butlers.

“I’ll be honest, I love the Crawleys, but writing for an old-fashioned rich family and their servants can get a little boring,” explained writer Julian Fellowes.

“What I’ve always wanted to is write a science fiction superhero spectacular with crazy powers and giant explosions and weird beings.

“Finally, I’m able to do so.”

The film goes on to show Bates using his super-butler powers for good as he makes the running of Lord Crawley’s life ever more efficient, but then aliens land with their own space-butlers and say that Bates is now too advanced for his position at Downton and must join the aliens in space. Will he go, or will he use his super-butler powers to fight the aliens not just for his own master, but for all butler’s masters everywhere?

There is also now speculation that should Downton Abbey 3: Wonder Butler prove a success, Bates will join The Avengers and Downton Abbey will become part of the Marvel Cinematic universe.
