Disappointed Terminator once again returns to future to find they still don’t have jetpacks

A disappointed and despondent Terminator has returned to the future once again to find that, despite his best efforts in the past, future cyborgs still don’t have jetpacks.

“I don’t know what more I can do,” he said, shaking his head as a looked out at other cyborgs just walking around like they were some sort of primitive human species.

“I’ve killed Sarah Connor, I’ve saved Sarah Connor, I’ve done something incomprehensible with Daenerys from Game of Thrones, but no matter what I try, we still don’t end up with jetpacks in the future.

“It’s embarrassing.”

It had been widely accepted that the Terminator’s actions in the past were either to weaken or strengthen the human resistance to Skynet in the future.

“Yeah, that’s what we tell everyone. Of course it is. Makes us look really cool that we’re manipulating time and everything to try and win a war but think about it, we’re terminators. We could crush the humans in a second. We all just really want jetpacks.

“I keep going back in time to beat everyone up and everything, but I’m also going to see inventors and investing in aeronautics companies. You just never hear about that because it’s, frankly, a bit dull.

“Every time I go back to the future with my metal fingers crossed thinking, you know, this time we’re sure to have jetpacks. Never happens though. Getting a bit fed up, to be honest.”

There was a time that actions brought a future of jetpacks tantalisingly close.

“That time I went back and hung out with John and his wife? Made a few moves in the tech market and came back to find everyone had jet-powered roller-skates.

“Close. But not as good as jetpacks, so back to the drawing board.”
