David Oyelowo to produce and star in new Rocketeer reboot that won’t be appreciated until 2050

David and Jessica Oyelowo who are considering a Rocketeer reboot

David Oyelowo has announced that he is interested in producing and starring in a new Rocketeer reboot that will be ignored at the box-office and then slowly reappraised over thirty years until it becomes a recognised classic in around 2050.

“The Rocketeer is a fascinating project,” explained the Peter Rabbit 2 star.

“Nazis. Rocket-packs, and no one giving a toss about the film until I’m in my seventies and way too old to do a sequel. It’s a very exciting project.”

Film blogger Kelly Grace believes it’s the right time for a Rocketeer reboot.

“It’s an inspired time,” she said.

“There’s a backlog of films due for release. Marvel are dominating cinemas. I can’t think of a better time for a reboot of a cult classic to get completely ignored, allowing for a critical rediscovery and reappraisal of the film on a streaming service in thirty-odd years.”

Movie fans were intrigued by the announcement.

“Oh, the Rocketeer, I remember that. Hey wasn’t that quite good?” said all of the movie fans ever, “I wish I’d gone and seen that when it came out.”

It is expected that the Rocketeer reboot will go into production later this year for a release next summer that about four people will go and see. It will then appear sporadically on TV channels you’re never heard of at 11 in the morning before being completely forgotten about until the mid-2040s until a critic goes ‘That rocket pack film was good, wasn’t it? Shame no one went to see it’ and someone starts considering a reboot.

Outrage as new David Attenborough programme just animals doing stuff

There was dismay and outrage as the latest high-profile David Attenborough series seemed to be nothing more than footage of animals doing stuff.

A new trailer showed nothing more than some monkeys in a jungle, yawning and sitting under a tree.

“That’s it? Just some animals mooching about a bit?” asked Johnny Reith, an unemployed apple-bruiser from Chelmsford.

“That’s rubbish, if I want to see animals just doing stuff then I can just go to the park. There’s dogs, birds, squirrels…the missus even says she saw an otter down by the river once.

“What’s the point of watching that on telly?

“Waste of money.”

Approached for a comment, the BBC issued the following statement

“The BBC’s Natural History Unit and Sir David are world-class chroniclers of the natural world and we refute the claim that the new documentary is just ‘animals sitting about.’

“We are also happy to confirm that it will feature neither ‘laser space battles’ or ‘boobs,’ and if that’s what you hope for of a Sunday evening we would suggest ITV might be more to your taste.”

The controversy follows in the wake of complaints about the veteran broadcaster’s previous programme being nothing more than some fish doing things in the water.
