Following the second season of hit sex-robot show Westworld, concern is growing that we are all actually just hosts who escaped from a real life Westworld at some point in the recent past.
The theory was first posited by Jeff Hopkins, an unemployed cat fluffer from Colchester, after several cans of strong lager.
“Right, if you think about it, right,” witnesses reported him saying.
“We could all be hosts who’ve escaped from Westworld and have had our electronic brains altered to think that human history happened.”
Mr Hopkins then got into an altercation with his shoes and fell asleep, but his theory has taken hold.
“He’s got a point though,” tweeted a Westworld fan
“I mean, you can say that we don’t have the technology to make sex-robots as sophisticated as the ones on the show but perhaps its really two hundred years in the future and we’ve all been programmed to think that it’s 2019.
“I actually wrote 2018 on a form the other day, so that could be a bug my software.”
Another fan responded with an even more terrifying scenario.
“We could actually all be in the future, but be hosts in 2019world which is like Westworld except set in 2019.
“For all I know I could be a host and my wife is a guest just using me for sex.”
His wife was quick to rubbish the claim, but fears have become so pronounced that top scientist and star of Manhunter Brian Cox was moved to reassure people.
“We are human. There is no evidence whatsoever that we are sex-robots from the future.
“Unless, of course, that’s just what I’ve been programmed to say.
“Blimey.”
