There is widespread concern in your front room that a new Netflix show released onto the streaming service could well be better than the Netflix show you are currently watching.
The show, almost certainly a crime thriller featuring an unconventional detective who, in many ways, is more troubled than the criminal he’s chasing debuted last weekend and immediately rumours spread that it was better than the crime thriller featuring an unconventional detective that you are currently watching.
“I’ll be honest, I’m worried,” said your son, who was the first to voice their concern on the matter.
“I mean, this new Netflix show about an unconventional detective looks good, it looks really good.
“I’m worried that we might well be wasting our time finishing the show about the unconventional detective that were currently watching.
“I mean, we’ve still got seven episodes left. I think we need to cut our losses and move to the new show.”
However, your wife disagreed.
“Oh, that’s the problem with you lot. You never finish anything once you’ve started,” she said.
“Finish the show about the unconventional detective you’re watching now and then move on to the new one in a few weeks.”
Your daughter was more equivocal.
“Whatever. Do what you like. Leave me alone. Mum! Tell Dad to leave me alone.”
It is expected that you will watch one more episode of the show you are currently watching before cracking and switching to the new show and then, seven episodes in, realising it isn’t as good as the first one and switching back to that forcing you to go onto Wikipedia to try and remember what the plot was.
In the meantime, a new show about an unconventional detective will debut on Netflix that looks even better.
