Christmas Film Festival: Oh No! It’s Christmas Easter

Beautiful Jessie Christmas is a high-flying executive at a smart Manhattan advertising agency. This year she’s determined to have a truly spectacular Christmas for her whole family in the pretty little village of Christmas in the countryside. She orders the biggest Christmas tree, the fattest turkey. Her Christmas lights are the envy of the whole block.

Whilst she is out shopping for gifts, she runs into Blaze Easter – her high-school sweetheart. They split up after Jessie left the small town where they both grew up to attend a fancy advertising college in New York.

Over a hot chocolate at the Christmas Fayre, Jessie and Blaze fall deeply in love and decide to get married. Jessie insists that Blaze’s family join her family for her spectacular Christmas. Blaze starts to protest but Jessie insists.

On the big day, Jessie’s family are drinking eggnog, eating candy canes and opening gifts when the doorbell rings. An excited Jessie flings open the door to find Blaze’s family all carrying chocolate eggs and bunnies and wearing elaborate Easter bonnets.

Blaze hastily explains that his family like Easter and doing Easter things. Quick-thinking Jessie sends the Easters on an Easter Egg hunt in her garden and quickly decorates her second living room for Easter.

She then settles the Easters in the Easter living room and with the Christmases in the Christmas living room, proceeds to hold a simultaneous spectacular Christmas and Easter.

Despite some close calls when she nearly serves a steaming hot Easter Egg souffle to the Christmases and starts singing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen to the Easters, the day goes well until… Disaster! Her mother hears the Easter fun in the second living room and discovers a huge Easter party!

A tearful Jessie slumps to the ground and explains that the Easters like Easter whilst the Christmases like Christmas and she just wanted everyone to be happy but she’s ruined the day for everyone.

There is a pause, and Blaze’s mother bursts out laughing, explaining that just because they like Easter things, doesn’t mean they don’t also like Christmas things.

The two families introduce themselves, an even bigger, better party continues on into the night and everybody learns that the true meaning of Christmas…is Easter!
