Characters in zombie film clearly never seen zombie film

There was confusion and some accusations of lack of realism as it became apparent that characters in a zombie film had clearly never seen a zombie film.

“I don’t buy it,” said viewer George Wright.

“None of them knew what a zombie was.”

“There’s, what, ten of them? Twelve if you include the kids, and none of them have seen Night of the Living Dead? 28 Days Later? Shaun of the Dead?

“It’s just not realistic.”

The characters’ lack of awareness of the zombie film genre became apparent during the first zombie attack when the mismatched group of survivors found themselves holed up in an apartment.

“Yeah, one of the characters. I think it was the young astrophysicist and model – she goes ‘what we’re those things?’ Everyone just shook their heads?

“I mean, what, we’re in a strange parallel dimension where no one has ever seen The Walking Dead? Because it’s been running for about a million years in this dimension.”

The characters’ ignorance of the zombie genre would go on to cost them dearly when Mary, the wise old widow, becomes a zombie after she is scratched by another zombie and she then attacks the pious, yet hypocritical clergyman.

“See, if I’m in a zombie attack, I wear a load of protective gear to stop myself getting scratched,” said Wright.

“Know why? Because I’ve seen a zombie film before. Like everyone has.”

It has also been reported that characters in a vampire film have clearly never seen a vampire film before after being perplexed that their new neighbour never leaves his house in daylight and everyone’s pets have gone missing.
