Acclaimed Australian director Baz Luhramann is the latest director to attempt to adapt a video game for the big screen by taking on the hugely popular Elder Scrolls game – Skyrim.
However, he will be putting his own unique spin on the project, by turning it into a hip-hop musical.
“I think Skyrim is just bonzer,” said the Strictly Ballroom director.
“But it’s a bit bleak, all those snowy barren wastelands and huge scary caves. I think what it’s crying out for is some ripper big, great colourful hip-hop musical numbers.”
Opening in a similar fashion to the game, with an execution, the film quickly establishes it’s own unique identity.
“Just as the guy’s about to be executed, the dragon emerges from behind the mountain and attacks,” confirmed Mr Luhramann.
“Then we go into a ten-minute mash-up of Eric B & Rakim, the Sugarhill Gang and Nas, and all the characters dance up the stairs of the tower as it collapses around them before ending on top of the mountain with all the guys chanting ‘The world is mine’ as the dragon breakdances behind them.”
“Fair dinkum. It’s going to be a beaut.”
Skyrim! Will be released in 2019 and then followed up with a second release shortly after that removes the bit where the lead character gets stuck in a wall and several support characters inexplicably float into the sky.
