Wonder Woman 1984 spotted filming in the past

Sequel Wonder Woman 1984 has been spotted filming at various locations over thirty years ago.

Wonder Woman fan @Diana4ever tweeted – ‘Can’t believe I saw Chris Pine and Gal Gadot filming new Wonder Woman pic back when I was 14. Exciting!’

The hugely anticipated film is to be set in the year 1984, and to capture that authentic eighties feel, producers have made the decision to film outdoor sequences in the past.

“Obviously, interiors we’ll be doing on soundstages,” said director Patty Jenkins.

“But, for some of the bigger set-pieces, we’ve taken the decision film them in 1984.

“For example, we’ve got a great sequence of Gal at a roller disco fighting some British football hooligans as Billy Ocean’s Caribbean Queen plays in the background.

“You could only film that scene in 1984.”

However, travelling back to 1984 was not without its challenges.

“Oh sure, I mean Gal wasn’t born until 1985, so that was fine, but Chris was four in 1984. So we had to be sure that he didn’t ever run into his younger self as that can cause a rip in the time/space continuum that would have meant all memory of him would have been wiped from our timeline.

“You only have to look at what happened to the great Oscar-winning Ryan Lestor when he was filming the second series of Stranger Things to see how awful that can be.”

However, addressing rumours that the third film in the Wonder Woman series would be set in a dystopian 2035, Ms Jenkins confirmed that they would not be filming in the future.

“No,” she laughed.

“Film in the future? That’s just mental.”
