The title of the new Rambo movie has been revealed and confirms the film’s rumoured surprising new direction.
The film is entitled Rambo 5: The Great Expectations of Nicolas Nickelby and star Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that it will take place in Dickensian London.
“Yeah, so I’m a big fan of Charles Dickens,” said Stallone.
“I think that’s pretty clear with Rocky. I mean, you got young boxer, works for the mob, falls in love, gets a big fight, loses.
“It’s pretty much Martin Chuzzlewit but set in Chicago.”
Stallone revealed that he took inspiration from the recent BBC hit series Dickensian.
“Yeah, I mean, for a Dickens fan like me that was a dream. You got all the Dickens characters and they’re all together in the same story? I loved it.
“So we’re going to pretty much do that, except with lots and lots of guns.”
The plot will feature John Rambo, who has been living out a quiet life in 19th Century Whitechapel, pressed reluctantly back into action when it is revealed that an old Vietnam buddy has been taken hostage in a workhouse by Uriah Heep.
Angry and out for justice, Rambo shoots everyone in London.
Rambo 5: The Great Expectations of Nicolas Nickelby will be released in 2019 and will feature a promotional tie-in with Mrs Frumpkins’ pie and hat emporium on Putney High Road in which customers will be able to purchase an exclusive Rambo 5 vial of milliners mercury.
